The South African exchange visa enables foreigners under the age of 25 to work in South Africa for a South African company. The condition is that the foreigner works for that company only, and for no longer than one year. The exchange visa is divided into an over the age of 25 application and a below the age of 25 application.
An over 25 exchange visa in South Africa allows a foreign national who is participating in a programme of cultural, economic or social exchange to reside temporarily in South Africa. The exchange must be administrated by an organ of state or learning institution.
An under 25 exchange visa in South Africa allows a foreign national who is under the age of 25 years and who has received an offer to conduct work, to reside temporarily in South Africa.
Despite that fact that the South African exchange visa is only valid for up to a year, it’s a great way to add new skills, experience and a fresh perspective to your business. Perhaps the more attractive advantage is that the application process is much simpler than for other work visas.
Over 25 – The organ of state would need to validate the reason for the foreign national to participate in a programme of cultural, economic or social exchange. You would need to be 25 years of age or older.
Under 25 – The employer must validate that the position exists and that the remuneration and welfare of the foreign national comply with the legal requirements. You would need to be less than 25 years of age at the time of application.
