Kenyans to get Visa-On-Arrival in South Africa

Kenyans are among citizens from selected African countries that are set to be issued with Visas upon arrival in South Africa, as South Africa revises its immigration policy. The review in visa issuance is aimed at increasing intra-Africa travels

South African Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom revealed that Kenya is among countries whose citizens will apply for E-Visas that will be issued upon arrival. The Tourism Minister confirmed that South Africa is in the process of revising its visa regime. The new policy will exempt more countries from visa requirements when entering South Africa in a bid to grow its tourism sector

South Africa and Kenya have been in talks for a while and at some point Kenya threatened to reintroduce visa application for South African passport holders before coming into the country. This almost resulted in a diplomatic row

Henkom said the move was purely informed on the prevailing relations between South Africa and specific African countries, especially the accruing trade benefits. He said it is sad that to connect to some African countries one has to fly to Europe

With it now being confirmed that South Africa is revising its immigration policy, we hope that there may possibly be some good changes for international travellers too
